The Malaysian state of Sarawak closed hundreds of schools, as haze in the region showed no sign of abating, amid worsening forest fires in neighbouring Indonesia. The Air Pollution Index in Sarawak measured at "unhealthy" levels, with one district recording a reading in the "very unhealthy" range. The authorities have said it will send 500,000 face masks to affected areas.
